Seamless USB 3.1 type C connector

Since the year 2015, there have been some USB-type Cs coming onto the market; our company’s expertise, drawing process is used on some of those USB-type Cs.
In the past, the general processing pattern for USB point shell was a combination of the conventional bending processing, welding or bending processing, and calking.
However, by changing the method to the drawing processing, it became possible to produce products with no seams which the conventional method was not able to do. 
The proposal of VA and VE applying this drawing process greatly contributed to improve the strength and reliability of the connector. 

Yet, there are only few manufacturers in the world who are able to do this type of process work; because the degree of difficulty on design technology and processing of this drawing process is extremely high.

Our company is a stamping/presswork manufacturer in Japan which was established in 1970.

We have experience of about 50 years in die design and press drawing work.

We design the mold that suits your company’s facility even when it requires high level of demand; we perform our work using 2-demensional CAD and three-dimensional CAD.  Deep drawing, which is recognized as a particularly difficult technology, has become our expertise by accumulating technologies; and we produce our products using the technologies.

What is Progressive Die?

A progressive die is a metal mold used for mass production which is incorporated into a die set with plural number of manufacturing processes.

Work conveying within the die is done by a coil feeder (coil material supply device) provided within the press machine, therefore, manufacturing is performed without separating the product from the coil material until the final stage.

 

Advantages of Progressive Die Manufacturing

Compared with single die and transfer die, the progressive die achieves lower yield rate, and the difficulty on designing is higher, however, it becomes possible to bring SPM (production per minute), therefore, it is excellent for mass production.

As electronics continue to grow smaller and lighter, the press products required to produce these items also require extremely advanced technology and quality, such as allowable tolerances of less than 0.01 mm.
